Worst Catholic Mission Statement Ever?

I thought the Diocese of Camden's Mission Statement was horrendous, and I would not have thought a Catholic Bishop could come up with a less Catholic one, but rest assured, Galante is outdone with this one.  Other than mentioning the "Catholic Diocese of Richmond," there is nothing Catholic about it.  God seems to have been forgotten, except maybe as a prop for a broader Flower Child agenda.  Why does the Summer of Love seem to live on only in the Catholic heirarchy?  Needless to say, the Diocese of Richmond is undergoing a "parish planning" process as well.  If you can't even figure out what your mission is, why bother with the parish planning?  Anyway, here is the "Mission Statement" (by the way, try substituting Moonies, Mormons, Unitarians or Salvation Army for "Catholic Diocese of Richmond" - I think you'll find it still works):

CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF RICHMOND

 MISSION

We, the Christian faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond,

led by our bishop and in union with the universal Church,

are listeners, learners, teachers and Disciples of Christ.

We embrace our diversity and its expression in faith.

We share a vision of a diocese where love grows,

life triumphs and justice and peace prevail.

We participate in God's work to renew our Church and

the world, through Word, Worship, Community and Service.

It kinda reminds me of this:

Why Save St. Mary's?

What's true for OL Queen of Peace, Pitman & Assumption, Wildwood Crest is also true for St. Mary's Malaga:

"The people in Pitman bought that ground and built that church and it belongs to them. You can't just take it away."

-Anthony Mecca, Queen of Peace Parish, Pitman (also on the slate for closure), May 8, 2008

"This is God's house. Let us live here with God as we've done all these years."

-Fred Spiewak, Assumption Parish, Wildwood Crest, June 11, 2008
