Thoughts from the Playpen

What we learn in the simplicity of childhood stays with us for a lifetime. Just as a child can sense goodness, so too can we if we maintain the quest for humility. As we are threatened with the closing of our beloved church, we see clearly why it will not happen. The fact that we are at the forefront of this battle certainly is a blessing from the Lord. We live by the words in the Sermon on the Mount: "Be not solicitous therefore, saying, what shall we eat; or what shall we drink; or wherewith shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things. Seek ye therefore the kingdom of God and His justice; and all these things shall be added unto you." What is the lesson we learn from our parents from the earliest moments of our life of Faith? Just that in simple terms, "the Lord provides!" We live that simple Truth by the grace of God.

We see in the guidance of our Holy Father everything necessary for winning the battle against Satan. We love God because we have lived the sacraments that bring life: "Only when the sacrament retains its unconditional character and absolute priority over all communal purposes and all spiritually edifying intentions does it build community and 'edify' humans. Even if a sacramental liturgy had fewer psychological trappings and were subjectively more lackluster and duller (if one may speak in such purpose-oriented way) it is still 'socially' more effective in the long run than the self-edification of a parish community performed with psychological and sociological expertise." A New Song for the Lord, Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, now His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI.

Hear that plea, Lord, which you taught us in the playpen. Scripture: Yes. Holy Father: Yes. Result? Jesus is the Lord. The Kingdom is not "mega-church." The Kingdom is Jesus the Lord. Come to the mass Monday night at 7:00pm. Keep St. Mary's open. The Lord wills it. The Blessed Mother leads all the angels and saints interceding for us. We cannot lose. Praise be Jesus Christ! Now and Forever!

In Jesus' Name,
Father Jerome C. Romanowski

Why Save St. Mary's?

What's true for OL Queen of Peace, Pitman & Assumption, Wildwood Crest is also true for St. Mary's Malaga:

"The people in Pitman bought that ground and built that church and it belongs to them. You can't just take it away."

-Anthony Mecca, Queen of Peace Parish, Pitman (also on the slate for closure), May 8, 2008

"This is God's house. Let us live here with God as we've done all these years."

-Fred Spiewak, Assumption Parish, Wildwood Crest, June 11, 2008
