From Fr. Romanowski: Bishop Galante's Visit

"We will never agree to close St. Mary's."St. Mary's Malaga: Our Lady of the AssumptionOur Crucified Lord in the Rosary Garden

Saturday May 17, 2008

Bishop Galante will visit us on May 27th the year of our Lord and he will discuss our situation in respect to the configuration of parishes. We will never agree to close St. Mary's. It is God's will that we remain as the Shining Light of the diocese--a parish and a shrine. No parish can compare with St. Mary's for its history, tradition and devotion. We are respectful to those in authority in the diocese, but we also have every right under God's Law to defend the Truth, not only the right, but the obligation to do so. The Pastoral Plan of the diocese was based upon vague sociological predictions, which don't reflect the Truth. I repeat and will continue to repeat the true concept of the parish as expounded by His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI: "Only when the sacrament retains its unconditional character and its absolute priority over all communal purposes and all spiritually edifying intentions does it build community and 'edify' humans. Even if a sacramental liturgy, had fewer psychological trappings and were subjectively more lackluster and duller (if one may speak in such a purpose oriented way) it is still 'socially' more effective than the self-edification of a parish community performed with psychological and sociological expertise." --A New Song for the Lord, page 75, Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger

Explanation: St. Mary's of Malaga exists and will continue to exist according to the guidelines of the Catholic Church and the profound, unceasing Truth of Sacred Scripture, not on man's weak, error drenched findings. The vocation of St. Mary's Malaga is to promote, nurture and live Faith, live the Life as inspired by the Holy Spirit and the glorious intercession of the Blessed Mother of God. Prayer and penance, in season and out of season, beat the Devil--pray for grace--greet the traveler--know the priesthood--be poor--be one in the Lord--never give up.

This Church was built on solid ground--the faith of strong people who sacrifice to build and maintain a building that is the true Presence of Our Lord. It is as the Scriptures relate: "Lest the Lord build the house they labor in vain that build it. Lest the Lord keep the city, he watches in vain who keepeth it." Psalm 126

As the facts relate conclusively and as the document from the Holy See on popular piety attests, a shrine like St. Mary's shows the way to the peace and contentment that only the True Presence of the Lord can attest.

Why Save St. Mary's?

What's true for OL Queen of Peace, Pitman & Assumption, Wildwood Crest is also true for St. Mary's Malaga:

"The people in Pitman bought that ground and built that church and it belongs to them. You can't just take it away."

-Anthony Mecca, Queen of Peace Parish, Pitman (also on the slate for closure), May 8, 2008

"This is God's house. Let us live here with God as we've done all these years."

-Fred Spiewak, Assumption Parish, Wildwood Crest, June 11, 2008
