6abc.com: New Jersey church wants to keep its doors open 4/29/08
5/3/08: "Praying the rosary, nearly 75 protesters demanded their St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Malaga stay open during a demonstration along the 600 block of Market Street in front of the Diocese of Camden headquarters on Friday."

(Actually it was more than 75. Two full busloads and more than a few came in their own vehicles.)

The rally Friday could not have turned out much better! Everything went well for Fr. Romanowski and I think we also made a loud statement about the closing of our parish. Hopefully, the Bishop will have a change of heart. And I was glad to have the opportunity to support Fr. during this trying ordeal. He has done so much for all of us over the past 11 years, it felt good to be able to do something for him.

Why Save St. Mary's?

What's true for OL Queen of Peace, Pitman & Assumption, Wildwood Crest is also true for St. Mary's Malaga:

"The people in Pitman bought that ground and built that church and it belongs to them. You can't just take it away."

-Anthony Mecca, Queen of Peace Parish, Pitman (also on the slate for closure), May 8, 2008

"This is God's house. Let us live here with God as we've done all these years."

-Fred Spiewak, Assumption Parish, Wildwood Crest, June 11, 2008
